Polychrome Overlook Details

Polychrome Pass, at mile 46 on the Denali Park Road, is so named because of the multicolored mountains you'll see here, formed from volcanic rock. The overlook is a great place to spot wildlife, while hikers can follow the creeks that cross the road just west of here to the glacier-fed East Fork River. Broad sandbars along the river make for relatively easy hiking in this area. Hiking up into the valleys will bring you to the small Polychrome glaciers.
