Threlkeld Settlement Details
This substantial farmstead is thought to have been occupied from the Bronze Age through Roman times. It features seven circular stone huts, a well, livestock pens, fields and two pathways which link it all together. There are around 50 cairns at the edge of the fields, probably the result of residents clearing the land for farming. The site is about one mile south of the village of Threlkeld, and is accessible via a footpath.
