This walk begins at the Rosthwaite National Trust parking lot and heads northeast toward Watendlath, marked by a white-painted farm where you can dine and admire the Herdwick sheep. When you've seen enough of the village, double back and follow the signs to Dock Tarn, an uplands lake. From the summit you'll descend through an oak forest before returning to your starting point.
