Cinderdale Details
This National Trust walk begins at the Cinderdale parking lot in the Buttermere Valley, following a path that parallels an old stone wall and offers great views of Crummock Water and the Melbreak area both out and back, as the route returns along the very edge of the lake. Along the way, you'll see a restored medieval sheep break, a stone set in a wall that once may have been used to sharpen swords, an old charcoal burning platform, and iron slag and other signs of an old "bloomery" furnace that once operated here.
