Plan Around Boating
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Boating Details
There is a right of navigation on the four major lakes: Windermere, Coniston Water, Derwentwater and Ullswater and facilities for public launching and mooring as well as private hire. Bylaws apply to all lakes that limit speed (a maximum of 6 or 10 knots on most lakes) and no powered craft are permitted on the smaller lakes. Electric boats are allowed on Bassenthwaite Lake provided they have a permit from the National Park and many hire companies on Windermere and Coniston Water hire out electric boats. Visit the the boating section, [National Park website](http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/visiting/thingstodo/water) or one of the Information Centres to get detailed local information.
