North Shore Road (Highway 20) Details

Highway 20, or North Shore as it is known, is a 7.2-mile road running along the northern part of St. John. It begins in Cruz Bay on the western side of the island, then terminates on the Island's eastern end where it meets Highway 10. It won't take long to drive the length of Highway 20, even if you take lots of pictures: a ride of about 40 minutes will cover the whole route. Along Highway 20 you'll find some stunning views of St. John's bays and beaches and pass a couple of trailheads, beaches perfect for snorkeling or swimming, and historical sites. The Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center, Caneel Bay and the Caneel Bay Resort, Hawksnest Bay and Trunk Bay, the trailheads for the Cinnamon Bay Trail and the Cinnamon Bay Self-guiding Trail, the ruins of the Annaberg Sugar Mill and School, and the Francis Bay Trail, a birdwatchers paradise, are all accessible from Highway 20.
