Caneel Bay Resort Details
The [Caneel Bay Resort](http://www.caneelbay.com/default.html) sits on 170 acres of picturesque beachfront property along the shores of Caneel Bay and has seven pristine beaches. The resort was once owned by Laurence Rockefeller, of the prominent Rockefeller family, the main benefactor of the park. Rockefeller built the resort to sit at the intersection of the natural environment and luxury. The Caneel Bay Resort is a five-star resort with 166 accommodations that are "a study in casual luxury". Don't expect to plug in here though, as all rooms are free of TVs and telephones, in keeping with Rockefeller's vision for the resort as an escape. The resort has every amenities imaginable for activities in the Virgin Islands. You will find snorkeling gear, sailboats, kayaks, and standup paddleboards; a bottle of rum upon arrival; and facilities for use when visiting the beach. The resort also has basketball and tennis courts, a fitness center, and a swimming pool. The resort also houses five different dining options: the Caneel Beach Bar and Grill; Caneel Beach Terrace; the Gelateria; Zoo's at the Sugar Mill; and the Turtle Bay Estate House.
