Upper Hot Pool Residence Details

Also known as the Caretaker's Cottage, the Upper Hot Pool Residence was built in 1934-36 in what was then a remote part of the park, and was a subsidiary structure to the nearby Bath House and considered staff housing. In addition to being a good example of English Arts and Crafts design blended with rustic materials and craftsmanship, the residence was associated with the Public Works Construction Act of 1934, which provided funding for federal construction projects and provided employment for local residents as parr of a national Depression-relief initiative. The Upper Hot Pool Residence is found at the end of a flat shelf created on Sulphur Mountain expressly to accommodate the residence. The Upper Hot Pool Residence is listed on Canada's Historic Places and the Canadian Register, and is a Federal Heritage Building.
