Sulphur Mountain Details

Whether you climb the switchbacks or take the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain the 360-degree views are spectacular. At the top, follow the 0.5 kilometer (0.3 mile) boardwalk along the ridge to Sanson Peak and the remains of the 1903 Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site. Plan for 4 hours as you climb 5.5 kilometers each way. More detailed trail descriptions and maps are available at Banff National Park and Parks Canada Visitor Centres, and remember when out on the trails that cell phone service is not reliable. The trailhead for this hike (or gondola ride) is at Upper Hot Springs off of Mountain Avenue.
