Spray River and Goat Creek Details
The rolling double track trail is popular among mountain bikers, as it follows the scenic Spray River for 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) before turning and gently rising along the lower slopes of Mount Rundle. This trail ends at the Smith-Dcrrien Road parking area above Canmore, where you can turn around and ride back to the start. Or, if you're looking for a nice downhill ride, shuttle up to the parking area above Canmore and cruise back down to Banff for a one-way ride. One thing to consider if it's wet outside, though - the clay content of the Goat Creek trail makes it unadvisable to ride in wet conditions. It's better to stay safe! Trail guides and cycling maps are available, and be sure to follow the park's rules and regulations to make the most of your ride: be bear aware; ride on designated trails; avoid riding during extreme conditions; help preserve the trails' quality; know your limits; yield to other riders; and, of course, leave no trace. **Trail Type**: Out and Back **Difficulty:** Moderate **Distance:** 37.4 kilometers round trip (23.2 miles) **Trailhead:** Fairmont Banff Springs **Connector:** Canmore Nordic Center, Rundle Riverside Trail, Golf Course Drive
