Scotch Camp Warden Cabin Details
When it was built in 1948, the Scotch Camp Warden Cabin was intended to house wardens whose job it was to patrol Banff National Park on horseback to enforce fish and game regulations and fight forest fires within the park's boundaries. The cabin was built along the Cascade Trail Heritage Corridor in response to the increased number of visitors to the park by automobile and bus, and the gaining popularity of the Cascade Trail. The Scotch Camp Warden Cabin is found on the Cascade Fire Road and sits amongst a forest of coniferous trees and an open pasture, with views of Mt. White. It is a well-known site by both visitors and park staff. The Sandhills Warden Cabin is listed on Canada's Historic Places and the Canadian Register, and is a Federal Heritage Building.
