Plan Around Safety
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Safety Details
Safety is key when visiting any national park, and the same is true at Banff National Park. When driving the park's roads, be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife, especially at dawn and dusk when animals are most active. If you see an animal near the road, be sure and slow down and turn on your hazard lights to warn other drivers to slow down as well. In the park, be sure to manage your own activity and know your limits before setting out on an excursion. And bring drinking water with you - though the water looks pristine in Banff National Park, it still needs to be boiled, treated, or filtered before drinking. Be bear aware when in Banff National Park, which is home to both grizzly and black bears. The park's [bear safety page](http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/mtn/ours-bears/securite-safety/ours-humains-bears-people.aspx) offers a terrific tutorial on how to practice bear safety and keep everyone happy during your visit.
