Great Divide Details
Starting at the parking lot at the 3.6km marker of Lake Louise Drive, the Great Divide route is closed to vehicles and though it's paved, the surface is rough. From the start, you'll ride past the Great Divide at the 7.5km marker and continue to the Trans-Canada Highway into nearby Yoho National park. There's minimal elevation gain along this route. For mountain bikers, about 500 meters (0.3 mile) west of the Great Divide is a 1.3 kilometer (0.8 mile) challenging trail along Ross Creek that connects to the Ross Lake Trail for an advanced return to the trailhead. Trail guides and cycling maps are available, and be sure to follow the park's rules and regulations to make the most of your ride: be bear aware; ride on designated trails; avoid riding during extreme conditions; help preserve the trails' quality; know your limits; yield to other riders; and, of course, leave no trace. **Trail Type:** Out and Back **Difficulty:** Easy **Distance:** 11 kilometers round trip (6.8 miles)
