Cascade Ponds - Bankhead Details
This shorter trail is terrific if you don't have much time to get on your bike, but still want to squeeze in a ride. From Cascade Ponds, you'll pass by the picnic area and over a creek to Minnewanka Road, where you'll want to turn left. From there, follow the old Canadian Pacific rail grade to Bankhead, a ghost town! When you're finished exploring or getting spooked, turn around and ride back to where you started, either at the Cascade Ponds day-use area, or Lake Minnewanka Road. Trail guides and cycling maps are available, and be sure to follow the park's rules and regulations to make the most of your ride: be bear aware; ride on designated trails; avoid riding during extreme conditions; help preserve the trails' quality; know your limits; yield to other riders; and, of course, leave no trace. **Trail Type: Out and Back** **Difficulty: Easy** **Distance:** 4.8 kilometers round trip (3 miles) **Trailhead:** Cascade Ponds day-use area, or Lake Minnewanka Road
