With a population of 300, Chemult, Ore., is low-key and quiet. It is located right off of Route 97, between Bend and Klamath Falls. Like Chiloquin, the town is named after one of the Klamath Chiefs who signed the treaty handing land rights to white settlers in the 1860s. You can take a shuttle to Chemult from the Bend airport; you can also take an Amtrak Coast Starlight train here. The Eagle Crater Lake Inn in Chemult is a 20-minute drive from the northern entrance to the park. Dawson House Lodge offers loft rooms and veranda rooms, with air conditioning and flat-screen TVs.
