Old Carriage Trail Details
Built by the Marshall Family—who were hugely influential in the development of the area during the late 1800s—this wide, generally level path winds through lush, arching canopies of oak, maple, beech, and hemlock stands while offering with many opportunities to learn about the area's Native American and pioneer past. The trail features three long steel box-truss bridges across deep, moss-lined ravines, and leads to old Marshall farm foundations, the remains of Native American hilltop sites, and great views of Cuyahoga Valley. The trail is open to nordic skiers and hikers. NOTICE: The three bridges on the Old Carriage Trail in Sagamore Hills remain closed until further notice. The bridges have been determined to be unsafe for pedestrian traffic due to accelerated deterioration on structural portions of the bridges. The Old Carriage Trail will remain open at both entrances except for bridge access. The Metro Parks, Serving Summit County Bike & Hike connector to the Towpath Trail is open.
