Goose Pond Weir Details
This small, stepped overflow dam was used to control the water level on the Ohio & Erie Canal. Built in 1825, the 50-foot concrete weir regulated water flow between Lock 34 and 35. Although it was knocked out of action by the floods of 1913, Goose Pond Weir remains visible from a bridge on the Ohio & Erie Towpath Trail and is one of the most prominent remaining water-regulating structures on the canal.
