Cassidy Arch Trail Details
The 1.7-mile one-way Cassidy Arch Trail shares a trailhead with Grand Wash Trail, and offers a view of the eponymous Cassidy Arch, named for legendary outlaw Butch Cassidy, who was reputed to have had a hideout nearby. Hikers will walk northeast up Grand Wash for .2-mile before reaching the official start to the Cassidy Arch route. From there it's a steep 600-foot ascent up to the arch itself as the trail climbs the northern wall of the canyon. After about 1/3 mile, the grade lets up a bit before entering a dry wash. After the wash the trail climbs again, this time through a stand of junipers and pine trees. At 1.2 miles into the hike the trail forks; head right to begin the Frying Pan Trail; stay left to finish the Cassidy Arch Trail at the arch itself.
