Lower Dogwood Trail Details

The .7-mile Lower Dogwood Trail loop begins when hikers take a left at the east end of the very short Arlington Trail. This smooth but steep gravel path climbs North Mountain, and also connects with the Upper Dogwood Trail loop, as well as the Floral Trail. Sandstone boulders near the top mark the westernmost tip of the trail. From there, the trail turns right and continues downhill for 100 yards before heading up the mountain again. Hikers should ignore the left trail in the steep curve, as it's a dead-end. There are numerous water bars that can cause hikers to trip, so watch your step. At the next two junctions, turn right to return to the Floral Trail, which will complete the lower loop of the Dogwood Trail. Turning left at either junction will deposit hikers onto the Upper Dogwood Trail.
