Crossed by the Sunset Trail, Fordyce Mountain is named for its former owner, Samuel Fordyce, who was an early railroad magnate who helped bring the Army Navy Hospital to Hot Springs and also funded many of the city's hotels and opera houses. As the Sunset Trail passes through the former Fordyce family estate, hikers can view the city waterworks below; there's also a spur trail to the top of the mountain.
