Schoodic Point Details
At the tip of the more remote section of Acadia National Park, Schoodic Peninsula, is this breathtakingly beautiful Point. It's a wonderful place to observe native seabirds while experiencing the pounding surf of the Maine coast. The Point's magnificent scenery often attracts a number of photographers and artists, so don't be surprised if you see a few there with canvases set up. Conveniently, there is also a parking area and restrooms. To access both the Point and the rest of the Peninsula, visitors will take the 6-mile, one-way loop road, beginning at Frazer Point, which circumnavigates the entire peninsula and offers views of lighthouses and green, forest-covered islands offshore. There are plenty of turnouts to allow drivers to pull over as well. There's an unpaved spur road leading to the top of Schoodic Head at 440 feet, but it's not accessible to RVs, buses, or trailers. The spur to Schoodic Point itself is also a two-way road.
