Schoodic Head Details

The highest point on the Schoodic Peninsula at 440 feet, Schoodic Head is located halfway between Frazer Point and Schoodic Point. To gain access, visitors can hike up one of three trails (Anvil, East, Schoodic Head) or turn left onto an unmarked dirt road at West Pond Cove off the main one-way loop road in this section of the Park. If you are already on Mount Desert Island, it will take you about an hour to drive to the Schoodic Peninsula. In the summer, a ferry travels between Bar Harbor and Winter Harbor, and the Island Explorer bus provides transportation from the ferry terminal to the Schoodic section of the Park, Prospect Harbor, and Winter Harbor.
