The Edmunds Glacier, which lies on the western side of Mount Rainier, below the rocky Mowich Face and the Sunset Face, begins at 9,900 feet and flows northwest to about 7,000 feet. As the glacier melts, it feeds the Mowich River, which eventually empties into the Puyallup River. The Edmunds Glacier gets its name from George F. Edmunds, a senator from Vermont from the mid to late 1880s.
