Borax Museum Details

Housed in a former miner's bunkhouse and ore-checking station built in 1883, the Borax Museum in Death Valley is located within the Ranch at Furnace Creek (between the restaurants and post office). Indoor and outdoor exhibits include a mineral collection, information about borax mining and the valley's Native American inhabitants, prospectors and the legendary Twenty Mule Teams. A wide variety of mining equipment is on display, from picks and shovels to massive wagons and the Old Dinah steam tractor once used to haul ore. Museum admission is free. Hours are generally 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., year-round.
