One of the most popular trails in Haleakala, the Halemau'u Trail runs 10.3 miles one-way from the Halemau'u Trailhead on the summit road to the Paliku Cabin, dropping into the park's wilderness area and summit valley or "crater." There are several natural turnarounds along the way for those seeking a less ambitious hike, however, such as the Holua Cabin, Silversword Loop. You can also connect to the Supply Trail and the Keonehe'ehe'e Trail.
