Valley Visitor Center Details

All the information you'll need to get the most out of your Yosemite visit can be found at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center, the largest in the park. Brochures, books, maps, trail guides, the Yosemite Today newspaper, Ranger programs, and information on bear conditions are available here. Staff members also are on hand to answer your questions. An introductory, 23-minute film on the park plays regularly in the auditorium, and displays explain the natural and geological history of the Yosemite Valley. A pair of self-guided trails also begin here -- the Ahwaneechee Village Trail starts behind the main building, while the "Changing Yosemite" nature walk starts near the bike path at the front of the building. Visitor center and bookstore hours are 9 am to 7:30pm. The visitor center is just west of the main post office (shuttle stops #5 and #9).
