The Loop Details

This parking area offers views of Heaven's Peak, as well as forest regrowth in an area ravaged by fire in 2003. Also located here are public restrooms — an important amenity if you are spending the day in your car on Going-to-the-Sun Road. This is a starting and ending point for several popular hikes. Many people hike the Highline Trail, starting at the visitor's center at Logan Pass, emerging at the Loop, and taking a shuttle back to the top. It is only a four-mile hike from the pull-out to Granite Park Chalet, but it's a steep ascent. Most people opt to leave a car at the Loop, catch the shuttle to the top of the pass, and hike back down to their vehicle. Even if you don't plan to hike, it's a great place to leave your car and a catch one of the park's free shuttles. That way, you can spend your time looking out the window and you won't have to worry about parking at the Visitor's Center at the top of the Pass.
