Champlain South Ridge Trail Details

The trail leads up smooth, but steep, granite pink ledge to Champlain's summit. The trail heads in and out of pitch pine forests and clumps of wild, low-bush blueberries, but there are good ocean views most of the way up to the summit. The mostly open trail is great for watching Acadia's peregrine falcons, the fastest birds on the planet, as they swoop and hunt for small prey. From the summit, return via the same trail or take Champlain North Ridge Trail or Beachcroft Trail. Trailhead: from Bowl Trail.
