Slough Creek Campground Details
Tucked at the end of a two mile dirt road near some of the best wildlife habitat in Yellowstone, Slough Creek Campground offers a quieter, backcountry feel at 6,250 feet in elevation. This is prime Lamar Valley country, where dawn and dusk often bring sightings of bison, pronghorn, bears, and even wolves. On clear nights, the lack of development makes for exceptional stargazing, and you may even hear wolves howling in the distance. The campground is best suited for tents and small RVs and provides easy access to hiking and fishing, including the popular Slough Creek Trail, which begins nearby. Operated by the National Park Service, all sites are reservable through Recreation.gov. Amenities are basic and seasonal. Vault toilets and potable water are available during the operating season, along with food storage lockers and trash collection. There are no showers, laundry facilities, dump station, camp store, or firewood sales. Cell service and internet connectivity are not available. Wood and charcoal fires are generally permitted unless fire restrictions are in place, and propane stoves are typically allowed. The campground is closed from October 13 through June 14 each year. Dates are subject to change.
