Slough Creek Trail Details
Extremely popular among hikers and anglers, this scenic trail follows a historic wagon trail through a stunning backdrop of mix fir forests and rolling grasslands surrounded by small hills and dark, towering peaks. The trail begins with a long, steady incline known for the many switchbacks it uses, but eventually levels out as it near the first of two meadows. Home to bison, birds, elk, wolves, trumpeter swans, and many bears, these northern meadows are well isolated and provide a great escape from some of the busier parts of the park. The valley is known as prime bear country, and hikers are encouraged to hike prepared for bear sightings.
