If you want your best chance at spotting Yellowstone’s iconic wildlife, set your alarm. Dawn is prime time on the Northern Range, and this guided tour heads out early from Canyon Lodge toward Lamar Valley, where wide open hillsides make it easier to scan for movement. Your driver guide keeps close tabs on recent sightings and shares insight into the behavior and habitat of the parks megafauna. Bison, elk, pronghorn, bears, and even wolves are possible, though sightings are never guaranteed. The focus is on finding animals in their natural setting as the landscape wakes up for the day. Muffins and juice are provided onboard, and tours travel by Ford Transit or minibus, depending on availability. For the 2026 season, tours operate May 23 to October 10 with check in times adjusted to sunrise. From May 23 to July 31, check in is at 6:15 am with return at 11:30 am. From August 1 to 31, check in is at 6:30 am with return at 11:45 am. From September 1 to 14, check in is at 6:45 am with return at 12:00 pm. From September 15 to October 10, check in is at 7:00 am with return at 12:15 pm. Adult rate is 135.77 dollars and child rate for ages 3 to 11 is 67.88 dollars, with children under 3 free.
