South Fork Merced River (W9) Details
Most of the Merced River flows within Yosemite National Park. If you look upstream from the south fork, you will see a restored covered bridge - this is a part of the Pioneer Yosemite History Center. The river is sometime confused with Illilouette Creek because it was mislabeled as "Illilouette Creek" on 1871 California Geological Survey reports. Illilouette Creek is actually another tributary of the Merced River further to the east. Roadside marker: W9
