Agua Fria National Monument was granted monument status in early 2000. It spans over 72,000 acres and is located about 40 miles north of Phoenix. Within the monument, visitors will encounter natural wonders, such as the canyon of the Agua Fria River and a variety of vegetation and wildlife, including coyotes, bobcats, antelope, mule deer, and javelina.
