Fort McAllister State Park Details

Fort Mcallister State Park is home to the end of General William T. Sherman's famous "March of the Sea." It is one of the best-preserved earthwork fortifications from the Civil War and was attacked seven times before its final fall. Cannons, Palisades, barracks, and other features can be viewed alongside the museum that holds other war-related artifacts. The fort is located on the banks of the Ogeechee River and is surrounded by marshes, oaks, and Spanish moss.
