The main feature of the Chatfield State Park is the 1,423 surface acres of the Chatfield Reservoir. The South Platte River feeds into reservoir, creating access points for boaters, fishermen and there is a full service marina as well. Visitors to the park can see more than three hundred species of birds as well as mammals like coyote, red fox, mule and whitetail deer. The Audubon Center at Chatfield State Park hosts educational opportunities for children and adults. Activities include swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, rafting and cross-country skiing.
