Mystic Falls Trail Details
The trail to these 70 foot falls climbs gently through a growing pine forest up over a ridge that was burn bare in the fires of 1988 and enters the Little Firehole River Canyon, where it climbs up the canyon's north side to a outlook at the top of the falls. From the outlook, the powerful white cascade appears to jump over the sheer edge of the canyon wall, crashing into the fast flowing Little Firehole River below. There are unofficial trails that approach the cliffs right above the falls, which give great views of the yellow geothermal springs and fissures around the base of the falls, but these trails should be approached with caution, as they are un-maintained and potentially dangerous.
