Lake Bob Sandlin State Park Details
For an eventful day out on the water, head to this lakeside park in Pittsburg, Texas. The 9,000 acre Lake Bob Sandlin is an outdoor enthusiast's dream, with plenty of fishing, boating, kayaking, and swimming. Until the 1800 and 1900s, the land was mostly inhabited by Caddo, Choctaw, Cherokee, Alabama, and Coushatta tribes. During this time, European settlers also came to East Texas in order to set up farms and ranches. While most of the land remained relatively empty, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department bought the land and opened a state park in 1987. Fishing is a popular activity at the lake or at one of the few stocked ponds scattered around the park. You can also choose to spend your time hiking (there are 3.3 miles of wooded trails) or having a quiet picnic on the shores of the lake. Camping is also possible at one of the 75 campsites. Entrance Fees - Adult: $4 Daily - Child 12 Years and Under: Free Reservations are available [online] (https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/lake-bob-sandlin-state-park/r/facilityDetails.do?contractCode=TX&parkId=1200119&_ga=2.26737464.447085507.1618845916-917412064.1616861417) or by calling (512) 389-8900
