Whirligig Geyser Details
Earning its name from the way water swirls in the crater during eruptions, this whimsical geyser in the Norris Geyser Basin is a favorite of park visitors. Although it was once a vigorous, often active geyser, it experienced a long period of dormancy and is only beginning to regain some of the behaviors it is famous for. Eruptions come from the large central vent, and usually measure between 6 and 15 feet in height, followed by a large puffs of steam and water from a vent on the east side of the crater.
