Desrochers Memorial Forest Details

Desrochers Memorial Forest is a total 135-acre preserve with an easy 2.2-mile trail network through a forest and along the river frontage. An easy walk, The Great Works River is the main feature with a long history of visitors. First used by the Abenaki, once the English settlers landed they were commissioned to build a sawmill on the Assabumbadoc Falls. Interestingly, this is thought to be the site of the first over-shot-water power in the nation, giving it its current name, The Great Works River.
