The Kennebec Valley Trail may only be a short 8 mile stretch, but it is filled with history. Following the Kennebec River, the "Arnold Trail" part of the Appalachian Trail system, is found here. Benedict Arnold was a famous American Revolutionary known for his aid to George Washington and many attributions to the war. The Arnold Trail signifies almost the exact march where he led 1,000 troops through the remote wilderness to help launch a secretive attack on the British in Quebec City. Though many soldiers perished en route, the victory was theirs.
