Sargent Northwest Trail Details
This trail (formerly known as Sargent Mountain North Ridge Trail) climbs the second highest summit in the Park. Not as popular as other trails, mostly because there is no convenient parking close to it, the North Ridge Trail leads to Sargent's summit. It is a quiet, steadily climbing trail that moves from shaded forests into more ledge and granite boulders as it gains elevation. It becomes more open as you get closer to the top. The huge stone cairn and collection of wooden trail signs mark the summit, and the 360˚ views of Somes Sound, the western islands, and Pemetic Mountain are truly breathtaking. Trailhead: Intersection with Giant Slide Trail.
