Sheepeater Cliffs Details
These column-like basalt cliffs are about half a million years old. They were named for a tribe of Shoshone Indians who hunted the bighorn sheep that live here. The cracked and jointed columns, which are remarkably symmetrical, were formed as a lava flow cooled.
