Mammoth Terraces Details
Mammoth Terraces has been described as "a cave turned inside out." Unlike most of the other hot springs in Yellowstone, those at Mammoth are the result of hot water rising through limestone, not silica-rich lava. The water deposits the limestone on the surface to form distinctive terraces that look like a frozen waterfall.
