Carter Shields Cabin Details

Cades Cove native George Washington "Carter" Shields fought in the Battle of Shiloh during the Civil War, where he was severely wounded and crippled for life. He eventually returned to his hometown and retired to this 1880s cabin, where he lived from 1910 to 1921. The property is considered one of the most beautiful in Cades Cove.
