Plateau Point Trail Details
Accessed via the Bright Angel Trail on the South Rim, this popular trail links Indian Garden and Plateau Point. The level, easy trail follows a few switchbacks before heading to the Point, yielding fantastic views of the Colorado River, some 1,500 feet below. The dry, exposed plateau the trail cuts across is home to small barrel cacti and desert shrubbery, and can be difficult to walk along where mule train have created deep ruts in the rock. Because this trail is shared by mule trips, hikers need to yield to mule trains so to avoid collusions and injury. Water is available at Indian Garden.
