The Abyss Details

Nowhere else on the South Rim will you get a sense of the depth of the Grand Canyon as at The Abyss. This overlook is located at the top of a sheer, 3,000-foot cliff plunging to the Tonto Platform. Thousands of feet below that is the Colorado River. You may encounter mule trains here -- one mule excursion brings riders to the Abyss from Grand Canyon Village and stops here for lunch.
