Stanley Glacier Details
The lower part of the Stanley Glacier trail burned in 1968 and again in 2003, and is now a landscape that is in rebirth with lodgepole pine trees, willows and colorful wildflowers. When you arrive at the upper part of the trail, you'll have clear views of Stanley Glacier and its numerous meltwater falls. Fire and ice on one hiking trail. The trailhead for this hike is actually in Kootenay National Park, 13 kilometers (8 miles) southwest of Castle Junction off of Highway 93 south.
