The challenging hike up Sunset Pass results in spectacular views at Sunset Lookout. Hike up your books for the difficult 9 kilometer (5.5 miles) roundtrip hike up the Sunset Pass trail and up seemingly endless, steep switchbacks. The effort is worth it, though - Sunset Lookout sits at 1,280 feet and offers stunning views not only of the landscape, but the Icefields Parkway winding quietly below. You'll also be able to see the joining of the North Saskatchewan and Alexander rivers from this vantage point. Staying for sunset is enticing, but just keep in mind you may be descending in the dark.
