Copt Howe Rock Carvings Details
Up to 6,000 years old, the Copt Howe Rock Carvings depict circles, lines and "cup" marks - small hollows in the rock - as well as other abstract shapes. Although some of the cups are natural, they have been incorporated into the design, which archaeologists think may have been a way for ancient people to show links between themselves and important places of the time. The carvings are beside the B5343 road in Great Langdale, just south of Harry Place Farm.
