South Fork Baker Creek/Johnson Lake Trail Details
If you are hoping to add a little history to your hiking experience, plan to take this trail as it follows the South Fork of Baker Creek toward Johnson Lake, first meandering through the abandoned Johnson Lake Mine structures that still remain. Do not enter any mine structures as they are unstable and dangerous. The park is working to update the mine structures and make them safe for guests, but you should check with a park ranger before going on any hike that takes you near old mining structures. Ending your hike at at Johnson Lake, you are met with the beautiful sight of the cliffs reflected in the lake's the clear water, making this a perfect spot for a picnic and photo op. To access this trail, start on the Baker Lake Trail and follow the signs to where it splits off toward the South Fork of Baker Creek. You can reach the Baker Lake trailhead by traveling to the very end of the Baker Creek Road.
